Who runs it. Test Founder runs this field test to learn whether the app is worth building further. You can reach them at founder@example.test.
What is kept, and why. So that the app can keep what you save and show it to you, and so that Test Founder can learn from the test:
- in this browser: a random key the app creates the first time you try to save something or send feedback;
- on the test's server: what you save, exactly as you enter it, with any value the app adds itself (in some apps, the date and time you saved it); a random identifier linking it to your key; a one-way fingerprint of the key, from which the key cannot be worked out; the day the key was created; and whether it has been used. The exact time the key was created is kept too, until the key is first used, which normally happens straight away. For a key that is never used, it is kept until seven days have passed and the test's data next changes, with no time limit if the test's data never changes again;
- any feedback you send, with the screen you sent it from and the day;
- in the server's own log, because its software writes this by default: if your visit is one that has the server obtain or renew the security certificate for this app's address, or try to, the date and time of that visit, to a fraction of a second, which app it was for, your internet (IP) address and the port your connection came from. The log covers every app on this server, so the same address in two apps' entries can show that visits to both came from it.
Nothing else is kept about you: no name or contact details unless you type them into the app, no record of which screens you open except the one you send feedback from, no dates or times beyond those listed above and the time of day the test's data last changed on its server (which can be when you last saved something or sent feedback), no cookies, and no advertising or third-party trackers.
Legal basis. Consent, given by taking part.
You may stop at any time.
How long it is kept.
- What you save: Kept until the test ends.
- Feedback you send: Kept for a month after the test ends.
Who receives it. Test Founder, who receives copies of what you save, with any value the app adds to it (in some apps, the date and time you saved it), its random identifier, the day your key was created and whether it was used, and copies of the feedback you send, with its screen, its day, its random identifier and a number shared by all the feedback from one browser, but never your key, its fingerprint or the exact time it was created; APPbuilder, which runs the server for them and makes those copies, on a machine in United States; and Google LLC, which provides the server, in United States. Nothing in this system sends it to anyone not named here.
Outside the European Economic Area. None: nothing leaves the European Economic Area.
What you can do.
- See what this browser has saved: the app lists it, with the answers its current version asks for. If the app has changed since you saved, what it no longer shows (an answer to a question it stopped asking, or a kind of entry it no longer offers) stays on the server and in Test Founder's copies. Nothing is removed.
- Send feedback from any screen, and see and delete the feedback this browser has sent.
- Write to Test Founder at the address above about anything kept about you. It is deleted within a week.
- Know that clearing this browser's storage removes the key from this browser only: what you saved and the feedback you sent stay on the server, and the app can no longer show them to you or delete that feedback.
